New arrivals including Gant, Katy Perry Footwear and Fiorelli Footwear & Accessories are amongst the latest signings at Moda this season.

With less than three weeks to go, the brand list for Moda has gathered pace with new arrivals including Blend, Casual Friday and Gant amongst the latest signings. The UK’s biggest trade fashion event has welcomed new signings across menswear, womenswear, footwear and accessories ahead of its a/w 18 edition at Birmingham’s NEC on 18-20 February.

For Moda Footwear, newness is the focus with a raft of new labels joining the line up for a/w 18. Katy Perry Footwear, Fiorelli Footwear and Accessories, Gant and Emu Australia are just some of this season’s new labels, offering visitors the chance to discover new collections alongside their core season buying.

“We always look at new brands while at Moda Footwear to ensure that we always have the best collections for our customers every season,” says Lynn Clark, owner of Finale Shoes and Accessories in Corbridge, Northumberland. “We have however sold out on our key collections from brands such as Peter Kaiser, Hoegl, Lisa Kay, Lunar and Caprice, so we will be taking the chance to revisit our core collections while also seeking new inspiration.”

Moda Woman also brings a host of inspiring new labels on board including contemporary Danish labels Fransa and B.Young, boutique Parisian collection Fifilles de Paris and Spanish arrival Scorzzo. The new additions bolster Moda Woman’s established offer, which is complemented by a comprehensive range of accessories labels for cohesive buying across the sectors.

“We use our time at Moda to source new accessories and complementary daywear looks,” says Cindy Marritt, owner of Cindy’s Fashions in Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire. “This autumn has been a buoyant one for us, with good sales from our Moda brands, which really came into their own in the lead up to Christmas.”

Menswear is a key focus this season, as Moda Gent enters into a brand new collaboration with leading industry title MWB Magazine. Kicking off with a brunch on the menswear plaza at 10.30 on Sunday, professionals from all aspects of the trade are invited to network, and take a fresh look at menswear from styling to sales. Visitors will have the chance to attend an engaging panel discussion at 13.00 on Sunday afternoon with award-winning brands and retailers. Led by menswear guru Carl Thompson, the discussion will reveal how to gain the edge in menswear sales, drawing on the experiences of renowned retailer Master Debonair and award-winning brand Marc Darcy.

For the menswear brands themselves, this edition of Moda Gent brings with it a clear business focus with regards to boosting sales in the face of increasing competition from the internet and the high street.

“We are bringing Blend and Casual Friday to Moda Gent with a clear vision to replicate the business model that has already seen fantastic results and double digit growth in other European markets,” says Ward Mann, country sales manager at DK Company. “We have a win-win mentality which offers retailers the opportunity for margin while giving the consumer value, and we work with retailers to enhance their cashflow and keep newness in store – you won’t see our winter jackets arriving in July.”

Moda’s comprehensive brand offer will be complemented by an engaging new content programme, which for the first time will see workshop sessions available to visitors. Working in conjunction with Moda’s seminar programme, the workshops will allow visitors to book follow-up advice on a more personal level with the expert of their choice.

Headline speakers this season include Ronnie Irani – former England cricketer and TalkSport host – who will deliver an entertaining and informative seminar about his successful approach to increasing footwear sales through the use of orthotics, and the impact orthotics can have on all-round performance. Catch Ronnie at 16.15 on Sunday 18 February.

Moda also builds on its successful collaboration with the British Independent Retail Association (bira) with an inspiring presentation from its membership manager Julie Holden at 14.15 on Sunday 18 February. Focusing on the strength independent retailers can gain from working with each other, bira will deliver a wealth of practical tips that you can try out in your own store to fight against the ongoing competition of high street multiples.

For any retailer who is aware of the power of micro influencers but doesn’t quite know how to harness it, 11.45 on Monday 19 February is the date to put in your diary. E-commerce expert Dan Conboy will look specifically at the power of micro-influencers, and give straightforward practical tips about how you can work with them to grow your brand and boost your sales. See the full seminar programme here

Outside of the seminar programme, Moda will also host a live photoshoot workshop throughout all three days of the event. Visitors will be able to watch and engage as a real photoshoot takes place on-site, learning about the flatlays and photographs that transform each item into an Instagram winner, and ultimately tapping into sales via social media traffic.
