OSC Outdoor has announced that it has taken over the distribution of Kayland, the Italian footwear brand that is well known for its high-profile technical shoes and boots for mountaineering, trekking and outdoor activities.

It has re-entered the UK market and now offers a compact range for AW23, with an extended range available for SS24.

Some of the product highlights include: Globo GTX – a unisex backpacking shoe made of nubuck, designed for tough hikes carrying heavy loads, even under adverse weather conditions. The uppers are made of one piece of leather with no seams, offering exceptional bending at the ankle. The Globo has a padded ankle with quick lacing system, and Gore-Tex Performance Comfort for guaranteed breathability and waterproofing. The polyurethane midsole with Vibram Fourà Evo tread is designed for trekking and uneven terrain.

Legacy GTX – a lightweight hiking boot, it combines a traditional boot construction with a modern design, featuring lines and tones with a high aesthetic impact but reminiscent of a traditionally-styled boot. Legacy GTX is ideal for three-season use, mid-grade routes and via ferratas. The Legacy is available in both a men’s and women’s fit, each made with a gender-specific last to ensure a comfortable fit.

Taiga Evo GTX – designed for mountain trails with mixed terrain, even when carrying medium loads. The Vibram Evolution sole has a deep, aggressive tread to ensure maximum traction. The entire outsole features a characteristic “S” contouring design which replicates the natural roll of the foot. The outsole contains Smart PU which delivers outstanding cushioning and maximum support and protection underfoot on rough terrain. The Taiga comes in both a men’s and women’s fit.

Alpha GTX – light but structured footwear, the upper, made of suede and synthetic inserts, fits the foot perfectly, thanks to the last designed to follow its ergonomics. The asymmetrical lacing and gusset give the fit a better degree of precision, as they ensure the shoe is wrapped close to the foot. It has a specific Vibram Multiverse outsole for mixed terrain. The Alpha comes in men’s and women’s fits.

In 1971, Giovanni Bittante founded the Kayland brand; his technical skills immediately enabled him to create high quality products and, together with his far-sighted vision and ability to anticipate market trends, led him to found the Kayland Professional Team, a group of technical experts in the mountains.

In 2013, Kayland became part of the M.G.M. S.p.A. group. The company, founded in 1982 and based in the sports/footwear district of Montebelluna (TV), boasts a historical presence in the mountain and outdoor sports footwear sector.
