photo 2Stuart sadly passed away on 28th February 2015, after helping Ayrshire team Maybole Juniors beat Ardeer Thistle 3-0.

According to a report in Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, fellow players told of their grief on hearing about the team captain Stuart, who had also played for Ayr United, Queen’s Park and Cumnock. Maybole FC’s website featured a tribute to Stuart – a large image of him celebrating in a No10 jersey.

In a newspaper interview two years ago, he described himself as “Mr Versatile as I’ve played every position for Maybole, including keeper. Definitely the biggest moaner at the club. I’m the instigator for most nights out but the boys are never far behind”.

Stuart also worked as a shoe sales representative for HB Shoes.  He lived in Ayr and was nicknamed Chips.

Justin Morgan, Managing Director, HB Shoes, commented: “It is with enormous sadness that we learned of Stuart’s untimely and premature death last Sunday morning.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents, brother, sister and girlfriend.

“Stuart was a fantastic asset to HB, Ara and Steptronic, with an incredible sense of humour, work ethic and ability to fit so well and so quickly in to our team.  He will be greatly missed.”
