A new Deichmann store has opened at the Ashley Shopping Centre in Epsom, Surrey following a £400k investment. It occupies a former Sports Direct unit, covering 3,500sq ft.
The retail giant said this move reflects its new retail format to deliver a more spacious and modern shopping experience, opposite retailers such as Pandora, WHSmith and Hotel Chocolat.
Creating 16 jobs for the local area, the new store stocks a full range of men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes, as well as unique and exclusive lines from brands such as adidas, Fila, Nike and Skechers. It also stocks its collaboration footwear with celebrities such as Ellie Goulding, Halle Berry, and Rita Ora.
Simon Wilson, Managing Director for Product, Marketing and Communications at Deichmann, said: “Our latest store at the Ashley Centre is a huge investment and will enable us to deliver our wide variety of products to a new community. The designed retail format has gone down particularly well over the last few months, and it’s exciting to launch the new concept within a destination also undergoing significant investment, making Epsom a strong addition to our portfolio.”
Louisa Butters, Head of Retail Asset Management UK at CBRE Investment Management, also commented: “Deichmann is a solid brand to have as part of the Ashley Centre’s retail mix. Suiting multiple demographics and delivering an assortment of likeable brands, they are a fantastic addition to the scheme, utilising a prominent space within the centre.”
The Ashley Centre is soon undergoing a £5 million refurbishment, with the addition of new retailers including JD, which is set to launch a 4,453sq ft store in the Centre.
GCW & Cushman and Wakefield represent the Ashley Centre, whilst BKL acted on behalf of Deichmann.
