Government updates on Coronavirus crisis – Thursday, April 16th

Dear members,

I hope you’re all safe and well? Please find attached the most recent updates from Government regarding the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) which will hopefully help you secure access to funds when it goes live next week.
I also wanted to remind members to make sure you stop any VAT direct debits ahead of next weeks VAT payments. I’m sure most of you have already done this, but these are chaotic and unusual times so thought a gentle reminder might be helpful to some – if you still need to defer you can find link here.

As regards the CJRS , the Chancellor has now announced that the scheme (which allows businesses to place employees on furlough), is being extended so that anyone on the payroll on or by 19th March and paid via PAYE can be included. You can read further details here.
The CJRS is planned for full release on 20th April and HMRC are currently testing the portal on a small number of businesses prior to it going  live next Monday.

Please note: Members looking to make a CJRS claim must be enrolled for PAYE online. If  this is not the case for your business,  I advise you to do so as soon as possible as it can take HMRC up to 10 days to issue an activation code for new users.
Full details on how to register are available here.

Stay Safe & Smiling,

Lucy
